Quality Problems?

We have particular strengths in applying analytical techniques to understand and then permenantly eliminate quality problems. We can help design and deploy appropriate quality performance metrics for use through the various stages of your processes, visually model your performance trends and characteristics and where necessary use statistics, 6 Sigma or root cause analysis to define and quantify the source issues within your processes.

We have great experience in the deployment of Quality management processes such as 8D, Practical Problem Solving, FMECA, SPC, PPAP and APQP and can help you get practical systems up and running and managed by your own staff, to ensure that your product or process quality continues to go from strength to strength.

Productivity Problems?

We have powerful methodologies for understanding and improving business capacity and productivity. We can help design and deploy appropriate performance metrics for use through the various stages of your processes, visually model your performance trends and characteristics and where necessary use statistics, 6 Sigma or root cause analysis to define and quantify the source opportunities for improvement in capacity, production rates and lead times.

We can help you get more from less; with the facilities that you already own. Whilst expansion, or faicility investment, can provide their own benefits we can often release you the same increases in capacity or improvement in capability through developing the performance of your existing plant and equipment.

Due Date Performance Problems?

Often clients can get into difficulties where they are a victim of their own success. Win too many orders and fill the capacity of the factory or service delivery function and problem with delivery schedule achievement performance can easily result.

We have a particularly strong and practical grasp of how volume of work, batching rules and the organisation of workflow affect process and total lead-times. We can quickly and easily determine the scale of improvement potential available and develop practical mechanisms for speeding up the flow of work. We can call upon a range of effective tools and techniques to suit every need.

This is a particular improvement area where the standard suit of tools are also effective in resolving problems that are pretty much the opposite of extended leadtime due to overloading the system. In some circumstances it can be the standard, offered lead-time itself that is preventing greater success in winning more work. Speeding up the value stream process flow not only improves Delivery Schedule Achievement performance; it can oftem be a means of improved tender success rate through the ability to offer more competitive lead times and delivery dates.

Cost & Competitiveness Problems?

The demand to reduce operating or piece part costs can often form part of a vicious circle of competitiveness and performance issues. Often clients can get into difficulties where they are a victim of their own success. If our only tactic when required to reduce cost is to trim resources (less staff, less hours, less equipment, less maintenance etc) we inevitably have less resources and hence less capacity at our disposal. This can lead to a drop off in performance and our becoming less attractive to potential clients.

Our approach here is to better understand the commercial performance of each of our workstreams and then understand and prioritise our options for improved competitiveness. Linking this evaluation of the profitability of each family of products or services to the lead time reduction capabilities mentioned in the previous section allow us to develop a strategy that will allow us to direct our pricing philosophies and sales activities towards a more competitive and profitable future.
